This is most of the reason why I haven’t bought more shitty cars this year. Insurance is a phone call away but registration is a huge ordeal of waiting in line and making small talk while the registry agent taps buttons and frowns.

Fancy ceiling though. Mine is those drop down ceiling tiles and half of them are falling apart with more burnt florescent bulbs than working ones.

I was there this morning try to register some video Tage plates. After waiting an hour and a half I finally get called. Then I’m told their system to collect money has been down since yesterday. What the fuck. Couldn’t have told me that when I walked in?

Washington State they have private DMV subagents. Pay a couple of extra bucks and none of this stupid BS. Plus you can do almost everything online or by mail. I haven’t set foot in a DMV in 8 years.

My license is cracked 70% of the way through but it’s still hanging on. Can’t put any tape or laminate it because thens it’s been “tampered with”. Some bars take it, others don’t. Even though I can use it at ABC stores (state run alcohol beverage control.) Their rule even says as long as it’s not fully broken it’s good. One bartender got snotty with me because I showed her my license and carry permit to emphasize that I am in fact 28 “well, anyone can go print off one of those” “well, you do realize doing that would be a felony? So are you going to call the cops on me now because I have a fake licence and fake ccw?”
Either way, have to get it replaced. $25 fee. Wonderful. Can’t do it online because my picture is too old. Wtf. It’s been like this for 3 months now because I’m not dealing with my DMV. They’re like the TSA but more seasoned.

At least it looks fairly new. Most Illinois DMV locations were set up in strip malls back in the 1970s. I’m pretty sure they haven’t been updated or cleaned or re-staffed since..
